Webpage Annotate – Add Highlights & Notes is designed with your privacy as the highest priority. This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. All annotations, notes, and settings remain exclusively on your own device.
We do not collect any information about you, your browsing habits, your annotations, or your device. There are no analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry, and no remote servers. The extension has no backend – it operates entirely inside your browser.
All highlights, notes, color choices, style settings, and dark mode preference are stored locally using
chrome.storage.local (or the equivalent Edge API). This storage is sandboxed and only accessible
by this extension. If you uninstall the extension, all stored data is automatically removed by the browser.
You can export all your annotations as a plain text file using the Export button in the popup. To delete your data:
This extension does not use any third‑party analytics, crash reporting, advertising networks, or CDNs that track users. The source code is self‑contained and does not load any remote scripts.
The extension does not knowingly collect any personal information from any person, including children under 13. Because no data is collected at all, there is no risk of inadvertent collection.
Any future updates to this policy will be reflected in a new version of the extension on the Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add‑ons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.
